Vision Zero progress toward zero deaths

Vision Zero Walk of Silence, November 2019January 2020

Quarterly Report

There has been a lot of local progress with the Vision Zero initiative. A special thanks to Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and the Florida Department of Transportation for collaborating with the journey to zero. Check out the details in the Vision Zero Quarterly Report.

Annual Vision Zero Walk of Silence

The Vision Zero Annual Walk of Silence was held Friday, November 15 in Downtown Tampa to honor those died in 2019 due to traffic violence. Approximately 30 participants gathered to walk during a drizzly morning to hear the names of the victims read aloud and march for two blocks carrying posters bearing the name, date of death, and a symbol indicating if they were in a motor vehicle, cycling, walking, or on a motorcycle. As of November 2019, the number of traffic deaths in Hillsborough County has exceeded those for all of 2018. We must take individual responsibility for eliminating these preventable fatalities.
