In early 2012, the Planning Commission was asked to prepare a vision plan for Terrace Park-University Square community at the request of City of Tampa Councilwoman Lisa J. Montelione, with the approval of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Residents and stakeholders of the Terrace Park-University Square community worked together for 14 months, through a process of stakeholder interviews, surveys, and monthly workshops to develop the long-term vision plan for the community. Results of this collaborative effort were presented to Tampa City Council in April 2013 and adopted by resolution.
The vision plan identifies key issues facing the community and provides direction towards improving the quality of life for the Terrace Park-University Square area. The Terrace Park -University Square community aspire to have a vibrant, clean, and safe community that is a welcome place to live, work, and play, with quality housing, exceptional recreational areas, easy-access to government services, efficient multi-modal transportation options connecting to the wider City, and increased economic development opportunities.
