The results are in! You spoke, and we listened. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the survey about the potential merger of the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties.

Here’s a quick rundown of what we found:

We had strong participation with 1,700 responses poured in from across the three counties: 42% of the responses were from Hillsborough, followed by Pinellas at 26%, Pasco at 8%, and a small percentage from other counties. 21% of respondents didn’t specify their county of residence, showing that the topic resonated far and wide.

Common Goals: It’s clear that respondents were on the same page when it comes to our transportation priorities. The top goals that resonated across the board were:

  • Connecting to jobs and destinations
  • Making decisions based on data
  • Supporting multi-modal options

Budget Priorities: When it comes to opinions on where to allocate our resources, respondents were in sync. Here’s the ranking for budget priorities:

  1. Building new rapid transit systems
  2. Widening or extending major roads
  3. Maintaining or improving bus service
  4. Fixing potholes/repairing bridges
  5. Improving intersections/traffic signals
  6. Constructing bikeways or paved trails
  7. Improving safety and streetscapes
  8. Constructing or repairing sidewalks

These survey results are bringing the picture of our shared vision for transportation in our communities into focus. Your input is invaluable, and it will guide us as we move forward in planning and prioritizing transportation projects. Your voices matter, and we’re committed to making sure they’re heard.
