Approved unanimously by the Planning Commission!
The Planning Commission is required by State and Local law to redistrict the four, single-member districts every four year preceding the next City Council election. Redistricting is a process that addresses population change. The goal is to ensure the districts are “as equal as possible” in terms of population. The City of Tampa has no role in the process. Once the Planning Commission takes action, the Supervisor of Elections proclaims the new districts.
On February 10, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the staff recommendation for Tampa City Council Redistricting at a public hearing. This action was the culmination of five months of public outreach and nine public meetings. The approved redistricting will be in place for the next Tampa City Council election scheduled for March 2015.
