October 2017 – Covering topics from development and redevelopment opportunities to transit and road improvements, the Brandon Corridors & Mixed-use Centers Pilot Project comprehensively looked at the land use and transportation issues facing the area. Conducted to study project feasibility, the study is conceptual in nature and includes no construction plans or funding. The study looked at the feasibility, advantages, and disadvantages of these concepts:
- Focusing potential future redevelopment in centers along State Road 60
- Improving the mix of uses, connectivity and walkability in other commercial centers throughout the area
- Potential roadway improvements like widening Lumsden Road, reversible lanes on Bloomingdale Avenue, and roundabouts on Lithia Pinecrest and Bryan Road
- Potential rapid transit in the State Road 60/Oakfield Drive corridor and circulators or on-demand transit services
